Trasylol Litigation

Our firm is in the midst of the coordinated Trasylol litigation against Bayer Pharmaceuticals, the maker of this clotting drug intended to prevent bleeding during heart surgery. Bayer spared no effort or expense when marketing the drug after it was approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration in 1993. Several years later, Trasylol was used in approximately one-third of all cardiac bypass operations in the United States. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine revealed that widespread death was attributable to the use of the drug. Additional investigation, performed to date demonstrates that Bayer knew there was an increased risk of harm well before the New England Journal study was published. Following a request by the FDA, Bayer suspended marketing the drug in November 2007.
